Ah, being new to your wonderful space I now realise you home school your children. Wonderful! I have total admiration for parents who home school. We had thought about it ourselves as we worried so much about the quality of the education our boys were getting, but in the end we stayed with it and I became parent director of the trust that runs their school! I’m looking forward to following the amazing journey you take with your children this school year.
It has been a good choice for our family so far and I like it. It’s our own little one room school house with multiple grades and subjects and everybody picking up bits and pieces from everyone else. That’s pretty cool that you were able to become involved in your son’s school to that extent! It’s good to know what’s going on and what they’re learning. Thank you so much, Dawud.
I loved how you laid out art principals and theories in your book, you explain and demonstrate so clearly. We are drawing eggs on Tuesday. Thank you so much.
Delightful post and drawings, as always, Jenn! Love your Vitamin D scooter and continue to admire what you’re teaching your children. I gasped too at the full color image from The Good and the Beautiful. The very title of the book brings a smile. Let’s have more of both! Good to see you back from your break. Cheers!
Thank you, Andrew! Yes, the world could use more good and beautiful things; I did not know there would be full pages of gorgeous art, it was a beautiful surprise and a good omen of things to come. Thank you for the kind compliment! I appreciate you always. Have a great weekend!
Wow! Im amazed! I am subbed but haven't gotten your notifications. So wonderful you homeschool.. And art is a priority.. Finding a way to incorporate it into other subjects!
Thank you! That is strange about the notifications, but thank you for finding me regardless. Art is absolutely important, I must have it; the kids have a good appreciation for it too, so it’s nice when we can create together.
I loved all the sketches, and I loved reading your thoughts. So creative. I love children who love school; I think it reminds me of my childhood, as I too loved school.
Thank you so much! They do like school, though sometimes they complain. We try to make it exciting! Thanks for checking out my scribbles and for the kind comment!
They are really lovely drawings, I am flattered. I will have to keep a look out, perhaps snag one for my kids. I love books that have beautiful illustrations
Wow, Jenn, I would have loved to be a child in your (art) school. I am very impressed how you do it all and would actually really love to sit in your art lessons with the kiddos right now. Maybe I can even bring something to the lessons, too: my recent photos, stories and admiration of Italian and Greek architecture. As a matter of fact, I planned to share some art I found in Italy tomorrow 😊. And of course as a biologist, I could try answering some questions in that field. Teaching is a wonderful thing to do. As you write in one of the comments, the most beautiful thing is, that we all learn from each other. Happy new school year 🥳. May it be filled with lots of laughter, beauty, and wonder 🦋.
There are somedays I’d do almost anything for a substitute teacher 😂. I’d love to tag you in! You’d bring a wonderful new perspective and your wealth of knowledge. That would be a class I’d surely sit in on! Thank you for the wonderful good luck wishes, they are appreciated more than you know! I take my kids education very seriously.
I am looking forward to the art your kiddos will be creating this Fall. With an amazing mother, artist and love for teaching I’m sure they will be early masterpieces! Sending you all much love! 💖💖💖
Yippee 🥳 I know you must feel the pressure, but to hear how much your kids want you to teach them just warms my heart to no end 🙏🏻 Says so much about the beautiful person you are Jenn. Always love your art "scribbles" throughout your pieces and oh my architecture! My favorite thing (well, one of them very high on the list!). I see lines in my work and have always loved varying architecture. Love that painting in The Good and the Beautiful 🤩 and how Michael Newberry is a part of your teaching! Amazing! Praying over your teaching season as I do for my teacher kids! 🙏🏻🙌🏻💫 Sending you big love! 😘
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for the prayers. It means so much. I love architecture, too. My kids were really drawn to the grandeur of classical architecture when we went through art history last year. So it seemed like a fun and unusual thing to sneak in; and I hope it grows their appreciation of beautiful things; once they understand and take their time to look and learn the terminology! I have a good feeling about this year. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, my friend, I so appreciate it!
Jenn, I love this community so much that I literally pray everyday for it to be protected from nonsense. It's special because of people like you! Thrilled the kids are into exploring the grandeur and wonder of architecture! Our daughter, 35, a high-school math teacher, took an extra loan during collage to attend a "Math through the Architecture" three week course in Italy! At 20 she was completely transformed. So much to say about it - it was incredible. She went back for her honeymoon several years later to show her husband all she learned and loved. Like you, I am still wishing! 😅 The amazing thing about learning is the dream to go and see more, do more, while you're young! You will live a little vicariously through your kids too, as they get more and more interested! I'm pumped for you too and maybe someday you'll get to go there with them! ox
This community is incredible; I love that you pray for it. That’s so cool that your daughter was able to spend so much time there and fell in love with it. That class sounds amazing. Being a high school math teacher sounds like a pretty interesting job, you can make our break a kid for life. I had a very bad one for Beginning algebra and I never recovered my confidence or skills . I don’t math above like 5th grade, haha. My oldest does a video course for math. I have had the pleasure of visiting Rome , very briefly, and Greece, too. I would love to return. I really hope you get a chance to go someday. I know you and your camera would find so much to love ❤️
I start on Monday with our third grader! Our oldest two are transitioning to 5th and 7th in private school on the 19th.
It’s an odd, bittersweet season and I’m equal parts sad, hopeful, afraid, and thankful. The last four years together have been the most unexpected gift (and challenge), but they’ve truly meant the world to me.
And we use TGTB for LA, Math, and History. They use a variety of resources for science, social studies, and more at our turorial.
Oh goodness, that is hard. My oldest is also in 7th, we might do the same next year. It’s so hard, but private school is a good choice. I will say a prayer for you and your family as you have big changes coming. It is a gift and a challenge, you’ve put it so well. Enjoy your last weekend before school, too!

Hey Jenn, I loved it before I read all the way through, can't wait to see the upcoming works! Thank you for including my art book! Honored.
I loved how you laid out art principals and theories in your book, you explain and demonstrate so clearly. We are drawing eggs on Tuesday. Thank you so much.
Sounds like a school I wish I could be a part of! Lucky kids! You’re a great mom Jenn! Sending love and light 🙏❤️
It is fun, I am lucky to be part of it, that’s for sure. Thank you, Jamie, for your always kind words and the love and light you always bring ❤️
Sounds like a fun year ahead! Good luck and I love that your kids are excited about starting a new school year!
I think it will be pretty fun! I learn as much as the kids, I think. Thank you so much for the good luck wishes! ❤️

I had to look her up! Thank you for introducing me to her, she Is wonderful and thank you for the kind comparison ❤️
I read her books when I was young and she has quite a unique style that really reminded me of your stuff xx

Same here. I love them too

Always my pleasure @Jenn i can’t wait! 🥰
What a gorgeous piece. And what gorgeous sketches, Jenn. A delight reading them.
Thank you so much, Trivarna, I appreciate your lovely comment and thank you for taking the time to let me know you enjoyed my post!

EXCITEMENT and ADRENALINE! Have a great start to the school year, Jenn! XO
Thank you, I like your new pic, too. We are excited to learn and it’s a beautiful thing. I hope you have a gorgeous weekend!
You too, Jenn! It is the start of Saturday now so your comment came at just the right time! XO
Timing is everything, I guess! Enjoy your Saturday ☺️
The Good and the Beautiful is such a lovely curriculum! I love that your kids were so enthusiastic about getting back to it!
It is really thoughtfully created with love. Have you started school yet and did you find the perfect curriculum?
