Bread making seems magical the process that your describe! Been drawn to pancake making though. Hope to be good at it as I love pancakes. On a side note, I don't have an oven in my apartment/flat. On the whole, apartments in Singapore and I think in many other places like India/Japan seldom have ovens in the apartments about 20 percent may have it) I hope to move in the future (haha not to the states) and if I have an oven, will try out some recipes! ~ XO
i’ve lived in Malaysia for a long time and often had to travel to Singapore. And yes that part of the world you can find no ovens. I miss oven baked foods during my stay there. You can always purchase a countertop one, But that takes up a lot of space if you have a small kitchen.
I feel that pancakes are a species of bread! I did not realize you were in Singapore, where are you thinking of moving to? Thanks for reading about my bread making adventures and I appreciate the kind words!
Hi Jenn, yep living in Singapore at the moment. I hope to die and retire outside Singapore which is probably a number of decades away, God willing. Main reasons Singapore's too dictatorial and a rat race with the highest cost of living. Visitors seem to love the food though! Chicken rice and chilli crabs are the famous dishes! My favorite bread is actually the Scandivanian rye bread though I haven't been able to find a good one outside that area! :-( Haha. XO
Yet another connection! I have also been making sourdough bread for a few months since my neighbour generously gifted us some sourdough starter. I don’t enjoy baking but I somehow love bread making—without a recipe. I don’t measure anything in my kitchen. Just following my intuition and so far so good. For me, sourdough bread making is Art and I enjoy the unpredictability of not following recipes. Every loaf is slightly different. Thanks for sharing your beautiful Art! My kids are also attending a few Art classes; their favorite is about famous self-portraits.
I’m happy I no longer have to bake it be fair because I found this lovely girl who has a business baking sourdough bread. I love her bread. So good and yummy and fresh. Thank you for sharing your information. I will pass it on.
That’s so nice that you don’t have to deal with the bread making mess and you still get fresh, home made bread! And you support another person’s business. Everyone wins. Thank you so very much for reading and sharing, I really appreciate your kindness!
Your intuition is much better than mine, I try to be exact when making the bread! But it’s funny that it’s the only thing I like to bake, too. Thank goodness for kind hearted neighbors with strong sourdough starters ☺️. The portrait class sounds fun, that’s a pretty cool theme for a class.
Oh, that sounds interesting and delicious. How is it done? The eating is the best part! I just pulled a loaf out a few minutes ago, we are starting at it longingly over here. I am the bread maker as well as the sketch maker, and thank you so much for your kind words, I really appreciate it!
Thanks for explaining, I think I’d be trying to move away, too. I hope you are able to get away sometime and live where you can access some good Scandinavian rye bread, that sounds delicious.
”the part of us that craves goodness and beauty.”
Thank you for this beautiful, illuminating and comforting sentence...
Thank you for such kind words, and I am so happy you found comfort and something that resonated with you. Thank you for reading ❤️

I make a loaf every two days. I love the beradmaker !
That is very cool, nothing beats a good sourdough loaf, I can’t ever go back to that stuff the store calls bread. Gonna try it with Einkorn soon!

Recently learnt to bake bread in the old French style and absolutely love it, there's something special about it especially the eating of it! Hehehe.
And ouah did you sketch these drawings yourself? They're quite good!

Thank you Jenn, and of course your sketches are awesome! your passion shows! 💫💜✨
Thank you for seeing that in my art!
💜✨
I just had a piece here myself! Sourdough. Love those sketches. I taste them!
Oh! How serendipitous! Do you make it yourself? There is nothing quite like a good sourdough.
Baking bread is not a skill I have conquered yet! Bought from the local market ❤️
That’s just as good ☺️. No mess to deal with!
