I am so glad that you find inspiration for your small pupil here! It’s magical teaching kids, I am always in awe of what and how much they pick up!

Yeah, I threw mine out about a decade ago, too. I can’t believe I let go of something I was so fond of and that had meant so much to me. Oh, that’s so awful that you lost access to all that music and the movies!!! More and more I’m convinced that I need hard copies of my music, computers are so fickle.

Thank you for the lovely, kind words, I appreciate it so much. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Thank you, Jamie! It is pretty fun, I think I learn as much as the kids, haha. Actually, they teach me stuff all the time from stuff they read in library books. Thank you so much for the kind words ❤️

I absolutely love your sun and moon art (that woodcut! ❤️) and your story of teaching during the eclipse! Plus I very much relate to the quiet rebel 😉

Yes to being quiet rebels and following your own path. It suits you, too ☺️. Thank you for the kind words about my art, the woodcut is one of my favorites, I keep a print hanging in my house. I hope you are doing alright, and I hope your weekend is lovely and relaxing ❤️

Thank you Jenn! This weekend was the first of three concerts (two next weekend!) for our anniversary on the 20th! Last night in L.A. we felt very alive! Might have to write a review 😅

Incredible art I love to see in you posts Jenn. I tutor a little 5 year old girl several evenings a week. I love many of your ideas and use them during my session. So thank you for more inspiration this morning! I try to make her aware of the movements of heavenly bodies like the sun and moon, and connect those lessons to teaching her about time. I love your idea of adding some Greek and Latin!

My own CD and cassette library? I threw it out over a decade ago. 🙈 at one time in the late 2010 so I had over 1000 songs and movies I had purchased online from Apple. My computer crashed and I pretty much lost all of it. Unfortunately I was locked out of my old AOL email so I couldn’t retrieve them. That’s were I had my receipts!

Have a beautiful day! 💖✨💖

Nice! And 😆! Here’s another sol reference for you (not that you are lacking😉). Sol invictus, Roman god of the sun from our trip to Rome last year. There was a mile long line to see it, so I just photographed it from outside the church. I can’t seem to upload a picture here? Darn!

Ohhh, that’s cool! I think you can tag me in a note, but sadly you can’t upload pictures in a comment. I will share your addition with my kids, though, they’ll be excited. Thank you so much for reading and leaving me a few words and some extra inspiration!

Music! It can be a radical inspiration to our truest nature and what an an incredible way to use a day planner; it speaks more to being in the moment than the day planner ever could! ❤️

I learned to paint with oil, too. I switched because of price, dry time, and easier clean up. Ugh, oil is hard when you don’t have a dedicated art space. I paint sitting on my bedroom floor, if I paint. I love to paint on found objects as well, though for me it’s mostly paper, cardboard, or wood. I did not know you have six children, that is amazing!! You were very busy as a mom!

I don’t know what will become of my work when I am gone, either. I mean, hopefully it sells Van Gogh style after I am not here and my kids can profit something from it. They are always trying to pilfer the things I make to hang in their rooms, and I am happy to give it to them. But if they destroy it all, that’s ok, too. And, I agree that children need a creative outlet!

I feel the same about giving it away, but it sometimes feels like pushing bad art on people 😂. I sometimes paint thank you cards for people who I am grateful for, and I can never tell if they think it’s weird or if it’s so personal that they just don’t know what to say. Art is so personal for makers and collectors.

We are definitely in the same boat, I get being shy about it, and if it brings you joy to paint it for you, then I think that’s quite alright. Thank you for an interesting convo about art and motherhood! I hope you find the time and space to create the things that are in your heart ❤️

Thank you so much for the kind comment!

I don’t actually very sell much, though I put it out there for that purpose. I end up giving much of it away as well. I currently don’t have an art space or studio, all my supplies are under my bed. My walls are well covered in art and I have quit buying canvas until I can off load some of it. I have one medium sized blank canvas left! So I make a lot on paper and keep it in boxes and a giant portfolio case; I try to limit my work to smaller sizes, too, that fits in with my time and space constraints. And I paint over/remake stuff sometimes if it hasn’t sold and I am tired of it. That’s cool that you have an art room! Do you have most of your work displayed? Having enough space is hard when you are a visual artist.
